North Belfast

CIT Employability Programme

Delivered in Partnership with The Executive Office Communities In Transition & Department for Communities Job Start Initiative.

About The Programme

The North Belfast CIT Employability Programme was created to support people who were out of work or disconnected from employment, helping them rebuild confidence, develop practical skills, and re-engage with opportunities at a pace that felt realistic and achievable. Rooted in the lived experiences of participants, the programme responded to barriers such as low confidence, poor wellbeing, limited qualifications, and a lack of accessible pathways into training or work.

Through a blend of skills workshops, one-to-one mentoring, employability training and confidence-building activities, participants were supported to develop routine, strengthen resilience, and reconnect with learning in a supportive and encouraging environment. The programme placed equal value on personal development and wellbeing as it did on employment outcomes, recognising that progress happens gradually and is different for every individual.

Working closely with local employers, community groups and partner organisations across North Belfast, the programme ensured that progression routes were relevant, meaningful and grounded in real-world opportunities. These partnerships helped participants feel connected, supported, and better prepared to take positive next steps into training, education, or employment.
