Making it Work
Making It Work is a bespoke employability programme supporting young people aged 16 to 25 who are not currently in education, employment, or training and who face barriers to progression.
Funded by The Ireland Funds, the programme provides practical, person-centred support to help young people move towards meaningful and sustainable training and employment opportunities.
About The Programme
Making It Work is designed to support young people aged 16 to 25 who may be struggling to access education, training, or employment opportunities. Delivered by BCT NI, the programme recognises that many young people face complex and often overlapping barriers, including low confidence, limited work experience, or unclear pathways into work.
Through a tailored and supportive approach, participants are encouraged to identify their strengths, build self-belief, and develop realistic goals. The programme meets young people where they are and provides structured guidance to help them take positive steps forward at their own pace.
Participants take part in a combination of vocational training, employability skills development, and one to one mentoring. Support focuses on practical outcomes, including workplace readiness, communication skills, CV development, and interview preparation.
The programme has a strong focus on progression. Young people are supported to move into further training, apprenticeships, or employment that is meaningful and sustainable. Ongoing mentoring helps ensure participants are prepared not only to access opportunities, but to remain engaged and succeed long term.
